Jimmy C Paints a New York Jets Mural Live in London
Share
At the New York Jets Tailgate in London, the artwork wasn't just a backdrop. Fans could watch muralist Jimmy C build a London x NYC piece across the day at Flat Iron Square, bringing the two cities together around the Jets.

Why Jimmy C for this brief?
Paintbox put forward Jimmy C for the Jets activation. His photorealist aerosol style suited an artwork built around players and a city-to-city story. He is also known for the David Bowie mural in Brixton. Here, the mural gave fans something to return to as it developed during the event, as well as a finished piece at the end. A live mural made for the setting
The artwork combined Jets players with the skylines of New York and London. Painting it in public meant the process was part of the Tailgate experience: the piece changed over the course of the day rather than arriving complete before guests did.

More than the mural
Alongside the painting, Paintbox artists spray-customised 300 tote bags for fans using laser-cut stencils of the Jets' artwork. Paintbox handled the artist, design, wall build, stencils, crew and de-rig, so the live mural and guest customisation worked as parts of one activation.
