Graffiti Tours London – Street Art Walking Tours in South East London

Looking for a graffiti tour in London that goes beyond Shoreditch? Paintbox Graffiti runs artist-led street art walking tours in South East London — through Deptford and New Cross — guided by the writers and muralists who actually paint these walls.

My Bad Sister mural in New Cross by Paintbox Graffiti, a stop on the South East London street art tour
My Bad Sister — our community mural in New Cross, and one of the stops on the tour.

We're an independent graffiti shop at 389 New Cross Road, and our team painted 25 of the shutters you'll see on the route. This isn't a guide reading a script. It's a working artist explaining why that piece is there, who painted it, and what it took.

All our tours are group bookings, starting at 3 people. Come as a group of friends, a family, a class or a team — we don't run mixed public departures, so the tour is only ever your group and your guide. Book the base group of three, then add extra people at the per-head rate.

Our Graffiti Tours

South East London Street Art Tour — 2 hours

Our core walking tour. Start at the Paintbox shop in New Cross, walk Deptford High Street and Creekside, and finish back at the shop with a proper understanding of how a piece goes from sketch to wall. You'll see the 25-shutter Deptford project we delivered with Shapes Lewisham, plus older work, buffed spots, and pieces that went up last week.

£105 for a group of three, then £35 for each extra person. All ages welcome. Roughly 2km of easy walking.

Tour + Spray Paint Session — 3.5 hours

The full day. It runs in three parts:

  1. The tour (2 hours). Deptford and New Cross on foot, same route as above.
  2. A break (30 minutes). Time to sit down and eat before you paint. Add a light lunch to your booking, or bring your own.
  3. Painting (1 hour). On a legal wall, with cans, caps and PPE provided. We teach you the basics: cap control, outlines, fills, simple fades. You leave with a photo of something you actually made.

£375 for a group of three, then £125 for each extra person. With a light lunch included: £435 for three, then £145 each. Ages 14+ (under-18s with an adult). All paint and safety equipment provided.

Private Group Tour — up to 15 people

A flat rate for a bigger group: the full walking tour, on a date that suits you, with the route shaped around what your group is into. Birthdays, stag and hen groups, university trips, school groups and visiting crews. Once you're past about a dozen people this works out cheaper than booking per head.

£395 flat, up to 15 people. Larger groups on request.

Corporate Away Days

A half-day combining the tour with a hands-on graffiti workshop — a team activity that isn't another escape room. We've run these for agencies, offices and creative teams across London.

From £850 for up to 10 people. Get in touch for a quote.

What You'll See on the Tour

South East London's street art scene is less photographed than Shoreditch and, frankly, more interesting for it. The route changes as the walls change, but you can expect:

  • Deptford High Street — 25 shopfront shutters transformed into artworks by Paintbox artists, delivered with Shapes Lewisham and backed by Lewisham Council
  • Deptford Creekside — a riverside stretch lined with street art and creative studios
  • New Cross Road — including the shutter on our own shop, and the area around Goldsmiths that's shaped British art for forty years
  • The My Bad Sister mural — our photorealistic community piece in New Cross, painted for local residents, showing the South London musician against a cityscape, floral landscape and graffiti characters
  • Live walls and works in progress — with luck, artists painting while you're there

Why Book a Graffiti Tour with Paintbox

  • Guided by working artists. Our guides are graffiti writers and muralists who paint commercially across London — not tour guides who learned the topic from a book.
  • Your group only. We don't sell single seats onto a coach party. Every tour we run is a private booking for the people who booked it.
  • We painted part of the route. You'll hear how a 25-shutter public art project actually got funded, negotiated with 25 different shop owners, and delivered.
  • You can paint, not just look. Most London street art tours end with a photo. Ours can end with a can in your hand, on a legal wall, with an artist stood next to you.
  • Somewhere new. If you've already done Brick Lane, this is the tour that shows you something you haven't seen.
  • A real shop behind it. Tour guests get a discount on spray paint, markers and caps in store on the day.

Who These Tours Are For

Groups of friends who want a side of London the guidebooks skip. Families with teenagers who are into graffiti and would rather they learned it properly. Art and design classes. Photographers. Birthday, hen and stag groups. Teams looking for an away day with some grit to it.

No art experience needed. Most people who book have never held a spray can.

Graffiti Tours London — FAQs

Can I book for just one person?

No — our tours are group bookings starting at 3 people, so the smallest booking is £105. We don't run mixed public departures, which means every tour is private to the group that booked it. If you're on your own and keen, get in touch and we'll let you know if there's a group you could join.

How do I book for more than three people?

Add the base group of three to your basket, then add one "each extra person" for every additional guest. So a group of six on the walking tour is £105 plus three extras at £35, or £210 in total.

Where do your graffiti tours run?

South East London — primarily Deptford and New Cross, starting from our shop at 389 New Cross Road, SE14 6LA. We deliberately avoid the Shoreditch and Brick Lane route that most London street art tours cover.

Where does the painting take place?

On a legal wall a short walk from the tour route. It's a proper spot rather than a studio mock-up. We'll send exact directions with your booking confirmation.

How much is a graffiti tour in London?

The two-hour walking tour is £105 for a group of three, then £35 for each extra person. The tour plus spray paint session is £375 for three and £125 each after that, or £435 and £145 with a light lunch included — all paint and safety equipment provided. A private group tour for up to 15 people is £395 flat, and corporate away days start from £850.

How long is the tour?

The walking tour is around two hours and covers roughly 2km at an easy pace. The combined tour and spray paint day runs about three and a half hours: two hours touring, a half-hour break, then an hour painting.

Is lunch included?

It's optional. Add a light lunch when you book and we'll have it ready during the break, or bring your own — there's plenty nearby.

Do I need any experience with graffiti or art?

None at all. Most people who book have never used a spray can. Our guides teach the basics from scratch, and experienced writers still get plenty out of the technical side.

Is there an age limit?

The walking tour is suitable for all ages. The spray paint session is 14+, with under-18s attending alongside an adult.

What happens if it rains?

Tours run in most weather — dress for it. If conditions are genuinely unsafe we'll reschedule you free of charge.

Do you also run graffiti workshops without the tour?

We do. Our graffiti workshops in London are standalone spray paint sessions for private groups and corporate teams.

Can I buy spray paint after the tour?

Yes — the shop is minutes from the route and tour guests get a discount in store on the day. We stock MTN, Loop, Molotow, Flame and more. Browse our spray paint range.
