Best Chrome Spray Paint for Graffiti: A UK Buyer's Guide

Chrome and black is one of the oldest combinations in graffiti. A silver piece (a dub, if you're in the UK) goes up fast, reads from a distance and looks sharp on almost any wall. But not all silver paint is equal, and the black you pair it with matters just as much as the chrome.

The short answer: for proper chrome pieces, buy Molotow Burner Chrome 600ml. It's one of our best-selling cans for a reason. Pair it with a black that's made to cover chrome, like Molotow Burner Black, MTN Nitro 2G or Dope Nitro Black, and buy them in a pack to save money.

Why Molotow Burner Chrome?

  • It's a 600ml can. That's half as much paint again as a standard 400ml can, so you can fill a whole piece without swapping cans halfway through.
  • It's built for speed. Burner uses Molotow's high-output Flowmaster valve and comes with a fat cap, so it covers big letters fast.
  • The finish is properly bright. Burner Chrome dries to a high-gloss chrome and is made to cover in a single coat.

One thing to know before you buy: high-gloss chrome isn't abrasion-resistant, and Molotow says as much. It looks amazing, but on a wall people will brush past or lean on, expect it to scuff over time. For pieces, dubs and anything you want to pop in photos, it's the one to beat.

Other metallics worth knowing

The black matters as much as the chrome

A chrome piece lives or dies on its outline. You need a black that covers chrome cleanly in one pass, without the silver grinning through. These are the ones we stock for the job:

How to get a clean chrome piece

  1. Start on a smooth surface. Chrome shows every bump and patch underneath it, so it looks best on a flat, evenly painted wall.
  2. Shake well and spray in even passes. Keep your distance and speed consistent so the finish stays even.
  3. Fill first, outline last. Let the chrome dry before you outline, then go over it with your black.
  4. Use the right cap for the outline. A skinny cap for crisp lines, or a fat cap for bold outlines on big letters. Our caps guide covers which is which.

How many cans of chrome do you need?

A 400ml can of graffiti paint covers roughly 1.5 to 2 square metres of solid colour in real conditions, and a 600ml can like Burner holds half as much paint again. Our guide to how many spray cans you need walks through the maths with examples.

Chrome spray paint FAQs

What is the best chrome spray paint for graffiti?

Molotow Burner Chrome 600ml is the go-to for most writers. It's a big, high-output can with a bright, high-gloss chrome finish that covers in one coat.

Is Burner Chrome high pressure?

Yes. Burner uses Molotow's high-output Flowmaster valve and comes with a fat cap, so it's made for fast fills rather than fine detail.

What black covers chrome?

Use a black made to cover chrome, such as Molotow Burner Black, MTN Nitro 2G or Dope Nitro Black. Ordinary blacks can let the silver show through.

Does chrome spray paint last outside?

Chrome holds up outdoors, but high-gloss chrome isn't abrasion-resistant, so it will scuff where people or objects rub against it. Keep it for pieces rather than surfaces that take a lot of contact.

How much is Molotow Burner Chrome?

At Paintbox it's £8 a can, or £42 for a 6-pack, which works out at £7 a can.
