What to Expect at a Graffiti Workshop in London
Share
Never picked up a spray can before? Most people at our workshops haven't. Here's what actually happens at a Paintbox graffiti workshop in London, from booking to walking away with a finished piece.
Who the Workshops Are For
Our workshops are built for complete beginners, so you don't need any art experience or graffiti knowledge. We run sessions for kids, teens and adults: birthdays, hen and stag dos, schools, youth groups, friends and family, and company teams.
Every workshop is booked privately. We don't run public drop-in sessions, so each one is built around your group rather than a room full of strangers. The smallest group we take is three people.
Where Workshops Take Place
Workshops are based in New Cross, South East London, with regular sessions at the Leake Street tunnels in Waterloo and at other legal walls around London. We can also come to your own venue. You'll get the exact location when your booking is confirmed.
What Happens on the Day
You don't need to bring anything. We supply the spray cans, caps, masks, gloves and hazmat suits, so wear clothes you don't mind getting a little paint on and you'll most likely leave clean.
Your artist starts with the basics: staying safe with spray paint, how cans and caps work, pressure control and how far to hold the can from the wall. Then you get painting, with one-to-one guidance throughout.
What You'll Learn
- Spray paint safety and setting up
- Choosing caps and controlling pressure for different lines
- Letter styles, outlines and fills
- Fades, blends and shadows
- Tags, simple characters and composition
- Planning a piece from sketch to wall
What You'll Leave With
By the end of the session you'll have painted a finished piece, and we'll take photos of it for you to keep and share. Most people are surprised by how much they manage in a couple of hours.
How Long Does It Take?
Private group workshops run for two hours. Corporate sessions run for three hours, which gives teams time to plan a shared piece and finish it together. Longer sessions can be arranged and are quoted separately.
How Much Does It Cost?
Private workshops are priced for the whole group, with all materials, artist guidance and clean-up included:
- 3 to 9 people: £70 per person (£210 for three)
- 10 to 14 people: £700 for the group
- 15 to 20 people: £50 per person (£1,000 for twenty)
Corporate workshops are quoted individually, based on team size, venue and what you want the session to produce. Sessions at your own venue, outside London, for more than 20 people or longer than two hours are also quoted separately. Indoor sessions use water-based spray paint, which costs more, so that's factored into the quote.
Bringing Under-18s
Kids and teens are very welcome. For groups with under-18s, a parent or supervising adult needs to stay for the whole session, and we'll arrange that with you as part of the booking.
How to Book
Private workshops can be booked online. Choose your group size, then add your preferred dates in the notes at checkout or email us straight after booking, and we'll confirm your slot. For corporate sessions, send us the details and we'll come back with a quote. Book as early as you can, especially for weekends and bigger groups.
